Shannon currently works at 4moms as a User Experience Designer. She designs interactive experiences that span physical products, embedded software, and connected app experiences, and also conducts all stages of user research. She is particularly passionate about human centered design, and multidisciplinary work that bridges the gap between design and engineering. Most recently, she has taken on a broader experience design role as a co-founding member of the new car seat startup spinning out of 4moms.
She received her Master’s degree in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University, and both a BS in Bioengineering and a BA in Studio Arts from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to 4moms, she previously worked as a Biomedical Engineer on artificial heart and lung devices. For her Master's thesis, she focused on exploring ways to use interaction design to improve quality of life for patients on life-sustaining medical devices. As a personal side passion, she is currently in the process of becoming certified to be a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician (hopefully by May 2018!).
